General TFL Guidelines

  • Please make sure you've read the rules carefully and checked the approved section before applying.
  • If you're applying for more than one fanlisting, please use a separate form for each fanlisting you want.
  • If the fanlisting you want fits into more than one category, please apply in both categories. This does not apply to certain categories, however. Please check the rules and category list pages for more information.
  • Name, Email, HTML Example and subject are required fields. Your application will NOT go through unless you fill in these fields.
  • Your HTML Example must be your own work. Applications submitted with a link to a website designed and built by someone else will be rejected.
  • Please do not use AOL.com, Hotmail.com, Hotmail.co.uk, Live.com, Outlook.com, other MSN.com variations, Yahoo.com or other Yahoo variations because we cannot guarantee our emails will reach these addresses.
  • PLEASE NOTE: there is a limit on the number of upcoming fanlistings an owner may have. If you have:
    - 6 fanlistings upcoming in a category and/or
    - 20 fanlistings upcoming at the network
the staffer has the right to reject your application out-right or until you complete some of your upcoming fanlistings..
If some of these are pending finished forms being processed, include the completed URLs in your application form.
Do not use more than one email address to apply for your fanlistings.

    • Het: Denotes sexual or romantic relationships between individuals of opposite sexes.
    • Slash: Denotes sexual or romantic relationships between individuals of same sexes.

      Specifying Genres on Applications
    • If there is no genre listed next to a subject within a subcategory that requires genres, it means the fanlisting covers the 'all' genre.
    • If there is already a fanlisting for the 'all' genre of the fanart or fanfiction of the fandom or person that you wish to apply for, you CAN apply for an individual genre provided it hasn't already been approved.
    • If you wish to apply for more than one genre of a subject, you must submit an application for each one.
    • Fanlistings CANNOT be genre stacked (e.g., gen/het, slash/adult, etc), so individual fanlistings need to be built for each genre or there MUST be a field on the join form where members can specify what genre(s) they are joining the fanlisting for and you must include their choice(s) on the members list. This excludes the 'all' genre as this is considered to be all-encompasing.
    • There are some fanlistings currently listed under multiple genres in the category which do not require members to specify what genre(s) they are joining the fanlisting for, however this will not be permitted for fanlistings in the future.

  • Providing URLs
    • Provide me with a link to information about the subject you are applying for. If you wish to apply in the following sucategories, you must provide a URL of a collective or profile for the artist/writer or the URL of the website in the application [e.g. FictionAlley (fictionalley.org)] :
       Fanart: Artists
       Fanart: Websites
       Fanfiction: Authors
       Fanfiction: Websites
  • Important: A great resource to getting familiar with the category would be Guide to the Fan Works Category. If this is your first time applying (or if you have never read it) please take the time and read through it now. It may clear up some questions you may have.
